ALUVA: Cook of a 'biriyani challenge', aimed at raising funds for helping a youth injured in a bike accident, collapsed and died. Ashraf (56), son of Kochu Khader and a relative of the injured person, died while packing the prepared biriyani.
The incident was around noon on Sunday. In order to raise funds for the treatment of Shemeer, who was injured in a bike accident, a biriyani challenge was organized. Ashraf runs a catering service and volunteered to cook the biriyani. After collapsing, he was rushed to a private hospital but couldn't be saved.

Shemeer was injured in an accident on June 1. He is under treatment at Ernakulam Medical Trust hospital after suffering a critical injury to his backbone. He has to undergo three surgeries, of which two have been completed. As of now, the expenses have reached about Rs 9 lakh. Shemeer is a lorry driver and comes from a poor family.
The aim of 'biriyani challenge' was to make 3000 biriyanis and sell it at Rs 100 each. The challenge has been able to collect Rs 2.5 lakhs.
