THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K K Shailaja said the government will ensure expert treatment for the 54-day-old baby assaulted by father in Angamaly. The baby’s treatment has been taken over by Child Protection Committee coming under the Department of Women and Child Development. She said that if more specialized treatment is needed, the health department will intervene in it.

She said the cruelty towards the baby is painful. Children face harassments from their own family. The neighbors and relatives need to be cautious. All kinds of attacks towards children should be reported to Thanal, an initiative of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare (KSCCW) and its toll-free number is 1517.

Meantime, the surgery conducted on the baby to stop bleeding has been completed. The baby has been shifted to the intensive care unit after the surgery.
