KOCHI: Yesteryear actor and singer Pappukutty Bhagavathar Pappukutty Bhagavathar breathed his last on Monday. He was 107.

The end came at his house at Palluruthy in Kochi. He was resting in his house following old-age related diseases.

Pappukutty Bhagavathar, who was known as Kerala Saigal, was born on March 29, 1912. He has acted in more than 25 films.

His first film is Prasanna; he also sang for this film.

He had acted in about 25 films including Guruvayurappan, Sthreehridayam, Oralkoodikallanayi, Muthalali and Viruthan Shanku.

The song ‘Entadukke Vannadukkum…’ he sang at the age of 95 for the film Merikkundoru Kunjadu was a hit. Pappukutty Bhagavathar had also shared drama stages with veteran singer K J Yesudas’ father Augustine Joseph.
