THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the state recording more COVID-19 cases with untraceable sources, authorities have intensified restrictions in six districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kasargod, Kannur and Malappuram districts. Strict vigil has been imposed in major markets and containment zones. With several regions declared as containment zones, Thrissur district has been partly closed.

More police forces except the special branch have been deployed for duty in these districts to ensure that the public follows physical distancing norms. Police have received orders to take strict actions against those who violate the restrictions.

Meanwhile, the health department has decided to test people who have come across various markets as it feels that markets are the areas where people seldom observe physical distancing norms and other safety measures. Apart from this, antibody tests will commence at airports where expatriates return from abroad.
