KOTTAYAM: More than three month old body of an anonymous person was found at India Press courtyard at Mariapalli on Friday morning when the thicket in that spot was being cleared for construction works.
The rotten and worm-infested skeleton was found at around 10 am. The investigation has been initiated by the police team led by Chingavanam CI Binsa.
The police team arrived at the spot, collected the remnants and sent to them to Kottayam Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. The body is not yet identified. The police have collected the list of missing persons from Chingavanam, Vakathanam and Kottayam police station limits in an attempt to identify the body.
The police said that only post-mortem can reveal whether it was a murder or suicide by hanging .
The body was found below a tamarind tree in the backside of India press. The police’ initial assessment is that he might have hanged himself from the tamarind tree.
Police have collected his clothes and other things from the place. The land of India press is now under the ownership of SPCS. A part of this has been set apart for Neethi store.
