THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has confirmed 225 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, health minister KK Shailaja said.


Among the new cases, 117 persons had returned from abroad (Saudi Arabia-35, UAE-30, Kuwait-21, Qatar-17, Oman-9, Bahrain-4, Russia-1) while 57 persons had returned from other states (Karnataka-24, Delhi-12, Tamil Nadu-10, Maharashtra-8, Telangana-2, Haryana-1). 38 persons contracted the disease through contact. The minister also added that 126 patients tested negative for the virus on Sunday.

The newly infected persons include seven Defence Security Corps (DSC) jawans in Kannur, two CISF jawans, two BSF jawans and two ship crew members.

So far, 3,174 persons have recovered from the disease in the state while 2,228 persons are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the state.
