THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have discovered that IT official Swapna Suresh was the master brain behind the gold smuggling in Thiruvananthapuram. According to police, Swapna, an Operation Manager at KSIT under the Information Technology department, had close connections with the UAE consulate.

The Customs department has intensified a search to nab Swapna. Meanwhile, reports claim that police will soon register the arrest of former PRO Sarith.

The customs department will seek legal advice in connection with the case. Reports also claim that more people associated with the smuggling have been identified. It is learnt that the gang had smuggled gold several times in similar fashion by threatening customs officials. As per reports, Swapna and Sarith had earned nearly Rs 2 lakh for every transaction.
