THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 416 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Friday, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said. This is the highest single-day spike of COVID cases in Kerala. Of the new cases, 204 persons developed the disease through contact. There are seven cases without an identified source. Among the new cases, 123 returned from abroad and 51 came from other states. 35 ITBP, 1 CISF and 1 BSF personnel also tested positive for the virus on Friday.

Meanwhile, 112 patients tested negative for the virus on Friday. Out of the 1,84,112 people under observation in the state, 3517 are in hospitals. At present, there are 193 hotspots in the state.
