THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 449 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, CM Pinarayi Vijayan told the media. Of the new cases, 140 persons returned from abroad while 64 came from other states. 144 persons developed the disease through contact. Sources of 18 positive cases couldn't be identified. Five health workers and four members of the fire force also contracted the disease.

162 COVID patients tested negative on Monday. There were two COVID-19 deaths today, one each in Kollam and Kannur.

Among the fresh cases, Alappuzha recorded the highest number with 119 positive cases on Monday.
