THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran has come out with the allegation that the investigation in the gold smuggling case is going on at slow pace and this is in accordance with a secret understanding between the State government and the Centre.
“Why is the investigation by the Central agencies not extending to the chief minister’s office. Is the chief minister the BJP’s sacred cow?” he quipped.
Mullapally said that clarity should also be brought in to the role of the chief minister’s office in the gold smuggling.
“If it is necessary, the chief minister himself should be questioned. The smuggling gang has got the help of the chief minister’s office. It is not right to confine the investigation to the terror link. The political corruption behind the gold smuggling and all appointments under this government should be examined. Mullapally alleged that the chief minister has been singing paeans to the NIA and BJP in the Centre during his daily press conference. Therefore, there is no need of surprise if attempts are made to sabotage the case,” he said on Wednesday.
