THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some crucial details have been obtained in the gold smuggling case in the capital city. Details that come says that the gold smuggled from Dubai was brought to sell in jewelleries. The accused collected Rs 8 crore for the smuggling.

Rameez, Jalaal, Sandeep Nair and Amjad Ali jointly collected the money. It was Jalaal who made the deal with jewelleries. The commission for the mediators Swapna Suresh and Sarith was Rs 7 lakh. The enforcement had taken a case against them.

It has been hinted that an owner of a jewellery shop in Malappuram has been taken into custody in connection with the case. The investigating team have registered the arrest of Anwar of Manjeri who spent the money and Saidalavi of Vengara. The customs took them into custody yesterday. There are likely to be more arrests.

Meantime, the NIA yesterday checked the secret bag of Sandeep Nair. It is believed that some evidences in connection with the case have been obtained but the details have not been divulged. The search proceedings which started at 4 pm ended at 7.30 pm. The NIA team had filed a plea at their court in Kochi demanding the opening of the bag yesterday itself.
