THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI leadership is likely to raise questions against the state government's stand in the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case, sources said. According to sources, CPI leaders are of the opinion that the gold smuggling case has destroyed the image that the government built through combatting COVID-19. However, the party is yet to make a public statement regarding this.
It is learnt that CPI leaders including some ministers are not satisfied with the government not suspending M Sivasankar. The CPI ministers might even express their dissatisfaction to the Chief Minister unless action is taken against Sivasankar within two days, sources said. The party is also mulling to make a public statement against the government's stand in connection with the issue. A decision regarding this will be taken in the CPI executive meeting.
