THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four doctors of the Thiruvananthapuram medical college have tested positive for COVID-19. Three PG doctors and a house surgeon have contracted the disease. Almost thirty doctors of the surgery unit have been quarantined. The surgery ward of the hospital have been closed as part of precautionary measures.
There are a lot of COVID-19 patients in the medical college and General Hospital in the district which have the highest number of COVID patients. More patients are coming daily to treatment centres outside the city including Varkala S R College.
The government has taken over Karyavattom Greenfield Stadium to expand treatment facilities in the wake of 100 to 200 new cases reporting daily in the capital city. In the first phase, treatment will be made available for 1000 people. The centre will be ready in two days. The convention centre will be first made hospital for COVID. Other areas of the stadium will be set up as the number of patients’ increases.
