THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has apparently conveyed his stand on the gold smuggling case to the CPI leadership. It is learnt that the chief minister has assured CPI leaders that proper action would be taken against M Sivasankar based on the report submitted by the Chief Secretary. During his interaction with CPM ministers, the CM informed that no culprits will be protected in the case. The CM's interaction with the ministers comes at a time when reports suggested that CPI leadership is not satisfied with the government's stand on the issue.
According to sources, the chief minister has assured CPI leaders that the government's image will not be tarnished due to the gold smuggling case. While informing the leaders that the government has nothing to hide in connection with the case, he added that the case and the ongoing controversy will not grow beyond Sivasankar. Sources also said that the CPI ministers have conveyed the CM's message to State Secretary Kanam Rajendran.
It was earlier reported that the CPI was mulling to make a public statement against the government's stand in connection with the issue.
