THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Film Producers’ association has welcomed the stand of Malayalam film stars’ association AMMA that film stars can take their own decision on reducing their remuneration, in order to revive the cinema industry that is undergoing Covid-induced financial crisis.
AMMA had written to its members that in the case of remuneration, each star can take their on decision.
“We are happy that AMMA could realize the financial difficulties of producers and the stand would facilitate the revival of Malayalam cinema,” said Producers’ Association president M Renjith.
Earlier, Kerala Film Producers’ Association had given a letter to AMMA, seeking its member actors and actresses to reduce their payment on account of Covid situation.
It was after this, AMMA came up with such a decision.
AMMA’s stand is that remuneration is personal and an actor and producer can arrive at a decision on it.
In the letter sent by AMMA after its meeting in Kochi last week, it started sending letters to stars. The letter also made a call for the cooperation of stars for making up the losses faced by the film industry.
