MALAPPURAM: PSC exams that were put on hold due to COVID-19 outbreak will continue that way for an indefinite period. The move to conduct online examinations also didn't bear fruit. Only 23 of the 93 notified examinations were held so far. According to PSC, written exams can be held only after the full scale reopening of schools and colleges.

There were talks to conduct online PSC exams in exams with fewer applicants. But in PSC centres and engineering colleges, there were facilities only for 10,000 candidates. As per social distancing guideline, only 5000 candidates can appear exams this way. The PSC has postponed all exams till May 30 and excluded schedules in the months of June and July. Between March and May, exams to 62 different categories were postponed.

There are 2,50,495 applicants for the fireman exam which was initially scheduled on May 7. PSC issued notification for the delayed departmental exams on the last day. Last date for applicatio: August 19.
