KOCHI: Kerala high court has strongly criticised the Crime Branch over its investigation into Karkonam Medical College bribery case. The court pulled up the Crime Branch for not conducting investigation against the then CSI church chairman Dharmaraj Rasalam, College director Dr Bennett Abraham and Controller Dharmaraj.
The court criticised the enquiry while considering the bail petition of two accused persons. “Why investigation was not conducted against big fishes? We are surprised to know that there has been no investigation against prime accused . The Crime Brach is only after employees. Probe should be conducted against accused from No 1 to 3,” the court instructed, adding that the progress report of the probe should be submitted to the court within ten days.
According to the case, the authorities of the college under CSI church took Rs 92.5 lakh after offering medical seats to four persons.
The main accused is the then College director Dr Benette Abraham. The other accused are the then Medical College controller Dr P Thankarajan, former principal Dr P Madhusoodanan are the other two accused.
In the case, Justice Rajendra Babu commission had recommended filing of criminal case against accused including Dharmaraj Rasala.
