THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs has raided a jewellery in Kozhikode in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case.

The raid was conducted in the jewellery named Hessa Gold and Diamonds on Friday. Gold has been seized from this shop.

The Customs officials gave the hint that the smuggled gold was brought to this shop. They have seized all illegal gold stocks without proper documents, found inside the shop. The raid began in the morning and it is reported that there will also be examinations in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Customs, on Friday, examined the Thrissur Kaipamangalam house of Faisal Fareed, the main accused in the gold smuggling case.

The examination started by noon and every room of his house was searched. The officers have recorded the statements of his relatives as well.

The locals said that Faisal had no much contact with `people in his locality. For the past one-and-a half year, Faisal had not come here. Though his parents were there for some time, they are not there now.

One and a half month ago Faisal’s father had died of Covid.
