KOLLAM: The Additional Sessions Court in Kollam on Saturday sentenced a man to 14 years and 10 months in prison for attempting to murder the lover of his relative. The accused has been identified as Kollam Parippally native Praveen (50).

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 31,500 on the accused. The murder attempt took place in 2010 when Praveen along with the second accused Babu attacked Shaji, the lover of Babu's daughter. The accused had also attacked Shaji's father, mother and pregnant sister using weapons
