THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The functioning of the Thiruvananthapuram medical college is in a crisis after seven doctors tested positive for COVID-19. 17 including doctors of the hospital have tested positive for the virus. Seven doctors of the hospital have contracted the disease. With this, forty doctors have gone into quarantine. More departments will have to be closed.
Nearly 150 employees have been quarantined. Patients of the surgery, ortho and super specialty wards have been confirmed of the virus. The first case was confirmed five days back. The disease was confirmed on 17 people who came in contact with them. Apart from the doctors, five staff nurses also contracted the disease. Of the confirmed cases, include those in COVID duty and others.
Meantime, a cop of Konni Police Station in Pathanamthitta tested positive of the virus. Almost 35 cops including the circle inspector have gone into quarantine.
