THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed the highest single-day spike of 821 positive cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja told the media. Of the new cases, 110 persons returned from abroad and 69 returned from other states. 629 persons developed the disease through contact. Sources of 43 cases couldn't be traced. 13 health workers also contracted the disease on Sunday.

The state also reported 2 COVID deaths on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Kasargod native Nafeesa (75 ) and Ernakulam Aluva native Kunjuveeran (67).

Meanwhile, 172 persons tested negative for the virus on Sunday, the health minister added. At present, there are 318 hotspots in the state.
