THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On a day when Kerala reported its highest single-day tally of COVID-19 cases, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest number of new cases with 222 persons testing positive. Of the new cases, 203 persons contracted the disease through contact. 6 health workers including doctors in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital also tested positive on Sunday. Meanwhile, 25 persons tested negative in the district on Sunday.


Earlier, Health Minister KK Shailaja announced that 821 persons tested positive in the state on Sunday. District wise breakup of positive cases:
Thiruvananthapuram- 222, Ernakulam- 98. Alappuzha- 87, Palakkad- 81, Kollam- 75, Thrissur- 61, Kasargod- 57, Alappuzha- 52, Idukki- 49, Pathanamthitta- 35, Kozhikode- 32, Malappuram- 25, Kottayam- 20, Kannur- 13, Wayanad- 1

The state also reported 2 COVID deaths on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Kasargod native Nafeesa (75 ) and Ernakulam Aluva native Kunjuveeran (67).
