THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 26 more regions in Kerala were identified as COVID hotspots by the state government on Sunday while seven regions were exempted from the list.

The new hotspots are Koratty (containment zone ward 1), Thannyam (9, 10), Kadavaloor (18), Karalam (13, 14) and Thrissur corporation (49) in Thrissur district, Vadasserikkara (1), Kunnamthanam (5, 8), Niranam (13), Pallickal (3) and Pazhavangadi (12, 13, 14) in Pathanamthitta, Thillankeri (10), Irikkur (4), Cheruthazham (14) and Naduvil (17) in Pathanamthitta, Chithara (all wards), Kummil ( all wards) and Kadakkal (all wards) in Kollam, Maradu municipality (23, 24, 25), Mulanthuruthy (7) and Mookkannoor (7) in Ernakulam, Pattambi municipality (all wards) and Ottapalam municipality (18) in Palakkad, Vechoor (3) and Maravanthuruthu (11, 12) in Kottayam, Vellamunda (9) in Wayanad and Devikulangara (13) in Alappuzha.

At present, there are 318 hotspots in the state.
