THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed the highest single-day spike of 1078 COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Of the new cases, 798 cases are through contact with 65 cases without an identified source of infection. Among the other cases, 104 persons returned from abroad while 115 came from other states.

Five COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state on Thursday. 432 COVID patients recovered from the disease today.

Currently, there are 1,58,117 persons under observation in the state. The state has confirmed 16,110 positive cases so far and there are 9458 active cases.

In Thiruvananthapuram, 100 out of 222 new positive cases are through contact. Of these, there are 16 cases without an identified source. Even lawmakers are getting infected, CM Vijayan said.
