KASARAGOD: An outlet of BEVCO at Vellarikundu in Kasargod has been closed. The outlet was closed following the visit of an excise officer confirmed of COVID-19. The employees have been asked to go into quarantine. With this, those who came to buy liquor at the outlet are also tensed. Three excise offices in Kanhangad were also closed.

In the meanwhile, 20 cops are under quarantine after a senior civil police officer of Kumbala police station contracted the disease. Kumbala is the worst affected area in Kasaragod. Of the 47 infected in the district, 41 people contracted it through contact.

Ten in Kasaragod municipality alone tested positive for the virus. Infected cases are rising in clusters of the district including Kasargod and Kumbala markets. A complete lockdown has been announced in Kumbala panchayat from July 24 to 15 days in the backdrop of the rising patients through contact.
