THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor K Sreekumar is in self quarantine. The mayor went into self-quarantine after some councillors tested positive for COVID-19. The virus was confirmed on seven councillors in two days.

The transmission of the virus is also rampant in the city. Lockdown has been imposed in the city for three weeks. More COVID cases have been reported in Poonthura and nearby areas. Traders have jointly decided to close Chalai market for three days after a labourer contracted the disease. There has been a worrying increase in the number of contact patients in the district. The virus was confirmed on 222 people in the district yesterday. Today four had died of the virus.
