THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 885 COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the new cases, 724 cases are through contact with 56 cases without an identified source of infection. Among the other cases, 64 persons returned from abroad while 68 came from other states. With this, the total number of COVID cases in the state reached 16,995. 24 health workers also tested positive for the virus on Friday.

Four COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Chirayinkeezhu native Murugan (46), Kasargod native Hairunneesa (48), Kasargod native Madhavan (68) and Alappuzha native Mariyamma (85).

968 COVID patients recovered from the disease today. At present, 9371 persons are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in the state. Out of 1,56,767 people who are under observation in the state, 9297 are in hospitals.
