KOZHIKODE: The pharmacist of Malabar Medical College in Ulliyeri tested positive for COVID-19. The virus was confirmed on the native of Karumala in Balusseri. Nearly fifty employees of the hospital are under observation. The health department is preparing the contact list of two wards.

There is a complete lockdown in Kozhikode district today. 110 were confirmed of the virus in the district yesterday. With the number of COVID patients increasing day by day, the district administration has expedited the arrangement of treatment facilities. According to the district health department, the number of patients is expected to rise between 3000 to 4000 by the end of August.

The current mission is to be alert in reducing the number of patients and to provide treatment facilities. In the meet presided over by Minister A K Saseendran, district collector S Sambasiva Rao explained the preventive measures. Sub collector G Priyanka, deputy police commissioner Sujith Das, deputy collector Shamin Sebastian, additional DMO Asha Devi and officials of various departments attending the meeting.

1103 were confirmed of the virus in the state yesterday. This was the highest rate single-day spike of cases in Kerala. Total number of cases rose to 18,098. Five deaths were reported yesterday.
