KOCHI: The NIA has found that more than hundred kilos of gold in the smuggling case was taken to Sangli in Maharashtra. Rameez and others arrested in the case told the team that majority of the gold smuggled through diplomatic channel by Swapna Suresh and team was taken to Sangli, a goldsmith’s district in Maharashtra.

Sangli, lying in between Kolhapur and Pune, is a main centre in changing the smuggling gold to an ornament. The gold smuggled by Rameez earlier was taken to the same place.

Meantime, COVID threat is preventing the customs from going to Sangli. The customs expect that the complete details would be obtained after getting Swapna and Sandeep in their custody and by questioning them along with Rameez.

The customs got some crucial details from Rameez. The customs arrested almost 15 people after questioning Rameez. Meantime, Rameez said that has no role in the case. Rameez also denied the finding of the investigating agencies the presence of Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, at the parties hosted by Swapna and Sandeep.
