KOTTAYAM: The funeral of the person who died of COVID-19 in Kottayam was held at Muttambalam crematorium with large police accouterment. The funeral of Ousep George, who died on Sunday morning, had to be postponed due to protests from the locals.

Initially, a funeral was planned as per COVID protocol at the corporation crematorium in Muttambalam. But the locals were irked because they weren't informed about the funeral of a person who died of COVID at a crematorium located in a residential area. The local residents said the funeral won't be allowed as there are houses nearby. They said the church has a place for funeral and alleged mystery for taking the body to the crematorium.
