THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, in the gold smuggling case, has arrived at the NIA office in Kochi. . Sivasankar left for Kochi from Thiruvananthapuram. He left Monday morning at 4.30 am from his house in Poojappura. He will be questioned shortly. The contradictions in his statement will be examined. NIA’s special team reached Kochi to question him.

Kochi unit chief S Rahul is likely to question Sivasankar under the team led by IG Ravisankar and another IG from NIA’s South Indian headquarters in Hyderabad. NIA director general Yogesh Chandar Modi will monitor via video conference at the headquarters in Delhi.

The questioning will be videographed. Senior officials from Hyderabad reached Kochi and has prepared a questionnaire. If his role in the case is proved or if he confesses to the crime, he is likely to be arrested. The NIA had the other day sought legal advice in including him in the list of the accused.
