THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: The joint committee of private bus owners has decided to suspend the bus service from August 1 in Kerala. The decision was taken, after taking into consideration the monetary loss they had been going through in lockdown times.

Earlier, the bus fare was increased to overcome the current Covid crisis.

The revision was brought the kilometre limit of journey on the basis of the fare was decided. The bus owners are of the opinion that this revision would push the private bus sector again into losses.

The committee also pointed out the regular increase in the diesel price as the reason for their decision to suspend the service.

“As part of resisting Covid transmission, many areas have been declared as containment zones and hence operating services in these areas would not possible, as well” the committee added.
