THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eight cops including Attingal DySP have tested positive for COVID-19. Those who came in contact with them have been directed to go into quarantine. Their source is unknown. Reports said two more cops of police headquarters have contracted the disease. Following that, the police headquarters is closed.

In the meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram remains a major concern after 17 more people of Bund Colony tested positive. The virus was confirmed on 55 people of the colony in three days. More infected cases are in the capital city. Of the positive cases reported in July, 23% of the patients are in the capital city. There were only 97 people in treatment on June 30 in the district. Cases with unknown sources were reported later from Manacaud and VSSC. Number of patients increased on July 5 in Poonthura and Pulluvila. Community transmission was confirmed on July 17 in these two places. Limited clusters were formed in Beemapally, Valiyathura, Adimalathura, Perumathura, Anjuthengu and Pozhiyoor.
