THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The IMD has forecasted heavy rains in the state. A red alert has been sounded in Idukki and Wayanad. A red alert has been declared in Kozhikode on Thursday while an orange alert has been sounded in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. A yellow alert has been sounded in other districts. There is a possibility of strong winds in the next three hours in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
Eight disaster relief camp has been opened in Vythiri in Wayanad. Special camps were opened for people above 60 years and those in quarantine. 32 families in quarantine have been shifted to a private hotel on Lakkidi. Warning of heavy rains has been issued in Puthumala and Kalladi regions.
12 camps have been opened in Noolppuzha and Panamaram regions due to the threat of flooding.
The disaster management authority advised avoiding night travel in hilly areas.
