THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Met department has informed that the heavy rain in the State will continue as one more low pressure area has formed above the Bay of Bengal.
Heavy rains are continuing in several districts in the State.
In Munnar, four shacks where Kannan Devan Estate workers were living got trapped in mudslides. Though the rescue works have started, heavy rains are hampering rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, there are reports that this year Kerala has not received as much rains it had received during the corresponding months of the last two years, despite the forecasts of heavy rains this season.
Areas of Tamil Nadu, lying next to Malappuram and Wayanad districts has had strong showers.
Avalanche Lake area in Nilgiris district received 50 cm of rain and Upper Gudalur got 31 cm rain in a single day. This has affected Nilambur and nearby areas.
