KOZHIKODE: Latest report claims that 16 people were killed after an Air India Express flight crash-landed at the Karipur Airport in Kozhikode. The number of casualties has been confirmed by sources close to the state government.
Meanwhile, reports also suggest that the deceased included a mother and child who were returning from Dubai. The Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered for a detailed inquiry regarding the accident.
Among the injured people, 20 people are undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College, while 36 people are undergoing treatment at MIMS Hospital. 19 persons have been admitted to the Baby Memorial Hospital.
According to news agency ANI, the condition of 15 out of 123 injured people remains critical. The accident occurred by around 8.20 pm and it is learnt that the flight skidded off the runway due to the heavy rain.
