KOZHIKODE: Air India Chairman Rajiv Bansal has said it won’t be possible to say anything about the exact reason for the flight mishap, at this stage. “A detailed inquiry into the incident has started,” he said on Saturday.

The chairman visited the accident spot in the morning and conducted the examination of the site. He also found time to visit the victims who are currently in hospitals.

Rajeev informed that the black boxes had been recovered from the accident site.

The black boxes - a Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) and a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) - store hundreds of data-points, including information about an aircraft's performance, speed, braking and system status, as well as records of conversations between the pilots. These are critical in helping aviation investigators find out what happened to flight IX-1344.

Earlier the Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that Directorate General of Civil Aviation had started the probe from its side. Two teams reached Karipur Saturday morning before the minister reached the place.
