ALAPPUZHA: With the onset of the monsoon, several parts of Alappuzha are facing yet another threat of flooding. The flood has already claimed the life of a two-year-old boy. The deceased has been identified as Lethal Lijo, son of Cherthala native Lijo and Nimmi. The boy died after he fell into a canal next to his house.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman named Saraswathy (70) went missing after she fell into a canal while attempting to collect water from the canal. Though a search was conducted by the fire force, police and the locals, Saraswathy has not been found yet. She had been living with her sister at Pallippuram for the last four years.

Meanwhile, the water level has risen in various parts of Kuttanad forcing people to move to relief camps.
