The present world scenario shows that even corona is, after all, an environmental crisis. Scientist are also of the opinion that the spread of corona virus is the end result of mishandling of our own mother nature. Human intervention which is basically inhuman in essence is continuously wiping out the forests from our earth. As we begin felling the trees with a vengeance, we came into direct and dangerous contact with wild life. Wild animals which carried all kinds of virulent viruses on their body, encroached into our life as we encroached into their land. Such viruses which had limited themselves to the body of wild animals found new hospitable host in human beings. It is from the wild animals which had lost their natural habitat in the wilderness through deforestation and started looking for new pasture among human habitations that the dangerous germs of ebola, sikka, West Nile, HIV, nipah and the like found their way in the human body. Science says that the changes in climate also contributed to the mutation of virus into fatal ones. Global warming which has precipitated the climate change also is the ill-bigoted offspring of human greed. Even in the beginning of the 20th century the intelligentsia were vociferously clamouring for immediate intervention for environmental protection. Mahatma Gandhi the intellectual of the 20th century even among his experiments with truth and nonviolent struggles to free his mother land, found time to enlighten people about the importance of harmonising with nature. His oft quoted statement on exhaustive consumerism points thus: The earth has enough for everyone's need but not for everyone's greed.

Hence corona virus is on a rampage, opening a Pandora's Box of problems, nevertheless brings to light the blunders we committed in protecting the environment. Corona reminds us that healthcare should be based on environmental protection. Moreover when we look at how nature is rejuvenated we are forced to think that nature through corona, its Angel of Death, is only trying to protect itself. The smog which have clouded this power of the city skies has cleared. The younger generation now has their first look at a clear blue sky. Reports from reliable sources asserts that the pollutants in the Ganges and the Brahmaputra have drastically decreased in quantity and quality, clearing the water and making them flow unhindered. Venice too has had a facelift free of cost. Around the famous fountains in Rome, box of wild geese have come for sun bath. The sky over China has become a lot thinner and less toxic. The oxygen pubs in Delhi have gone out of business since the atmosphere is absolutely clean now. Various meteorological agencies vouchsafe that in the U.S and Europe, air pollution has gone down to one third. In short the flip side of coronavirus is there has become more hospitable. The not so obvious relation between nature and man is rather complex one. Hence, this pandemic is here to remind us that it is time to change ourselves. We have to give much importance to environmental education at school level itself. We depend on nature for almost everything. Resources to meet our basic needs like food and shelter as well as the facilities to provide even entertainment come from nature. The aphorism the Chinese philosopher and exponent of Taoism Lao Tsu observes that nature never hurries but accomplishes everything exhorts us to live in harmony with nature. Thus both the pestilence and cure have come from the same source. China the prime supplier of corona has to understand it better.
