WADAKKANCHERY: In a tragic incident, two students who had gone to take photos in a water-filled quarry at Kizhakkanchery on Thursday, slipped and drowned. The deceased have been identified as Asif (16) and Mahsin (15).

The incident occurred around 5.45 pm on Thursday. It is learnt that both Asif and Mahsin were on their way back from the quarry when Mahsin slipped and fell into the water. Following this, Asif jumped into the water to save Mahsin. Although a local named Bapputty had jumped into the water, he was unable to save the boys and they eventually drowned to death. The bodies were later recovered by the fire force. Asif was a student of Kizhakkanchery Govt High School and Mahsin was a student of Mannarkad school.

The bodies are currently kept at the mortuary of the Alathur Taluk Hospital
