KASARAGOD: According to police, Albin, the accused in the murder of his sixteen-year-old sister, made similar attempts before as well. The first attempt was by mixing poison in chicken curry. However, the attempt failed as the amount of poison wasn't enough to kill. Then he studied poisons on the internet before using rat poison to commit the murder. Albin's parents scolded him for not going for work and instead spend his time on his phone. This motivated the 22-year-old to commit murder.
Albin took part in the funeral of his sister who died after eating ice cream laced with poison. He also visited his father who was in a critical situation at the hospital. The police said the thought that his family is a hindrance for secret relationships lead to the murder. Albin tried to secure the assets for himself by murdering his entire family.
Though all the other three members of the family were affected by food poisoning, Albin didn't have any problems which created suspicion in the mind of the police and doctors. The police were able to find Albin's search history with the help of cyber dome and cyber cell which assisted the police in the case.
Albin gave ice cream laced with poison to his family on July 31. Following his ITI studies, he was working in a hotel in Kottayam. He returned home due to lockdown.
