THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Poojappura Central Jail headquarters have been closed for three days. The action was taken after noticing symptoms of COVID 19 on two prisoners engaged in cleaning work at the headquarters. Department chief Rishiraj Singh said the decision was taken to close the jail headquarters as per the directive of the health department.

It will be opened again after disinfecting it. The anxiety on COVID is continuing in the Poojappura Central Jail. On Wednesday, 51 prisoners were confirmed of the virus and on Thursday 41 inmates and an official contracted the disease. More antigen tests will be conducted in the jail. The jail department has decided to conduct tests on all 975 prisoners.
