THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is hinted that Swapna Suresh, one of the main accused in the gold smuggling case, opened a locker for illegal dealings. She opened a locker in her name in November 2018. Gold was smuggled from July 2019. This is the reason why the investigating officers have such a suspicion. This was exposed by a noted tv channel today.

M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, helped in opening the locker. He introduced his friend and chartered accountant Venugopal to Swapna. The key of the locker was with Venugopal.

The investigating team has found that Venugopal had opened this locker many times. Money was given to those directed by Swapna. His role in the deal will be investigated. However, he told the investigating team that he just obeyed the directions of Sivasankar and has no role in Swapna’s dealings.
