THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The situation in Thiruvananthapuram is becoming even more critical as the district reported 519 new COVID cases on Sunday. This is the highest single-day spike in the number of COVID cases recorded by the state capital. Among the new cases, 487 persons contracted the disease through contact.
Meanwhile, Malappuram district reported 221 new COVID cases on Sunday. Of the newly infected persons, 200 developed the disease through contact. Both Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts also reported more than 100 COVID cases on Sunday. While 123 tested positive in Ernakulam on Sunday, Kozhikode reported 118 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
