ration

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has approved the conditions put forward in the revised tariff policy that provides for steps like a penalty for unscheduled power cuts by distribution companies. The state has written a letter to the Ministry of Power expressing its approval of the policy.

The revised tariff policy provides for compensation for unscheduled power cuts, except in the case of technical faults or act of God (natural calamities). The compensation would
be in the form of a credit that will be made into the consumers’ account with discoms so that this credit is used when paying the next electricity bill. Meanwhile, the state electricity department has directed the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to ensure 24x7 power supply without any disruption.
