THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death toll from COVID-19 in the state rose to nine today. Natives of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Malappuram natives are those dead.

Shahin Babu (47), an employee of Kozhikode rural SP office, Sulu (49) of Mavoor, Sadanandan of Aluva who was undergoing treatment at Kalamassery Medical College, Vrinda Jeevan (54) of Moothakunnam Kottuvallikadu, Enath Raghavan Nair (80) of Thiruvalla, Ilyas of Pookottur in Malappuram who was undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College, Vijaya (31), native of Chennai who was undergoing treatment at the SAT Hospital, Prathap Chandran, a native of Kattakada and Leela of Kasargod are those dead.

Shahin Babu was under treatment for COVID-19 from August 13. He did not have any other health issues. Sulu was a cancer patient. Sadanandan was a heart patient and also a diabetic. Vrinda was a cancer patient.

Vijaya died at the SAT Hospital last night. Vijaya, a native of Chennai was staying in Vizhinjam. The baby girl she delivered the other day had died. Prathap Chandran died at the medical college this morning. He had heart and respiratory ailments. The virus was confirmed on 19 of his family members.
