THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state registered 1725 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, health minister KK Shailaja informed. This is the highest single-day spike in Kerala.

Among the new cases, 1572 persons developed the disease through contact including 94 cases without an identified source of infection, 45 persons came from abroad while 75 persons returned from other states. Also, 31 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

1131 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus today.

The state reported 13 deaths in the past 24 hours. The total death as of today is 169.

There are 1,64,029 persons under observation over various districts in the state including 13,697 in hospitals. On Monday alone, 1455 persons were admitted to hospitals.

In the past 24 hours, 26,150 samples were tested. A total of 12,05,759 samples were sent for testing so far.

The state declared 24 new hotspots on Monday while removing 21 places from the list. Currently, there are 571 hotspots in Kerala.
