MANJERI: Two more COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Kerala. The natives of Malappuram and Ernakulam succumbed to the virus. Ganeshan (48) of Theyyala in Malappuram died of the virus. He was under treatment at Manjeri Medical College.

T V Mathai of Kothamangalam in Ernakulam succumbed to the deadly disease. He was 67. After testing positive, he was admitted at Kalamassery Medical College. He had heart and kidney ailments, diabetes and pressure.

With this, the death toll rose to 171. 13 deaths were reported yesterday alone. 306 tested positive of the virus in Malappuram district yesterday. Of that, 285 contracted the disease through contact.

A total of 1725 were confirmed of COVID in the state yesterday. Of that 1572 got the disease through contact. The source of 94 is not known.

The situation remains critical in the capital city and Malappuram where transmission of the disease is severe.
