THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The probe in the sexual harassment complaint of Saritha S Nair, accused in the solar case, has not reached anywhere yet. Left leaders still use the solar case to put pressure on the UDF whenever allegations were levelled against the government. However, the case investigated for four years could not find anything.
Though the team led by the then DGP A Hemachandran filed a charge sheet in more than the 30 cases from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram, the trial in any of them has not been started. Saritha settled more than 16 cases which were in various courts by giving money. The probe in the case where even government documents were forged is being delayed due to government’s indifference in the case.
The investigating team have not been able to find anything on the sexual complaints levelled against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and ministers by Saritha, the accused in the solar case. In the last assembly polls, the case was the main campaign issue of the Left Front. A case was registered against Oommen Chandy, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and Hibi Eden in October 2018 on the complaint of Saritha.
Even former ministers AP Anil Kumar and Adoor Prakash were charged for sexual harassment. The case was registered after days of questioning and confusion. The case taken against BJP leader A P Abdullakutty in the previous government’s tenure was handed over to the investigating team. She alleged that she was sexually abused in many places including the official residence of the ministers.
Rajesh Diwan and Anil Kanth, the heads of the two investigating teams formed by the government had informed them that a case cannot be taken. Following that, the new investigation was after handing over each case to an investigating official. In the case against Anil Kumar, the complainant has not appeared so far. The inconsistency of witnesses and circumstantial evidences so far hampered the probe. After appearing in some cases, the complainant had informed to produce some things including the clothes, but has not done so far.
