THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to PM Modi opposing the Union government's decision to hand over the Thiruvananthapuram airport to Adani Group.
In his letter, CM Vijayan wrote that the Aviation Ministry had given assurances that the contributions of the state will be considered in case the airport is handed over to the private sector.
"The Prime Minister also assured about this. If the state's decision is not considered, then we cannot cooperate with the centre's decision", CM Vijayan wrote in his letter to PM Modi.
Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for leasing out airports at Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram through public-private partnership (PPP).
Adani Enterprises had won the rights to run six airports -- Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati -- through the PPP model after a competitive bidding process last February.
